Ethical Companion Breeders
Each of our families who make up Doodles & Poodles Naturally practice Companion Breeding. This means that our sires and dams (dads and moms of the puppies) are our own beloved family dogs who live in the home with us and our children as part of the family receiving affection, playtime, and companionship. Furthermore, it’s inside our own homes that the moms give birth and raise their puppies in those first 8 weeks receiving constant care and attention. Each of our dogs truly is a member of the family!
Each of our families also practice Ethical Breeding. This means we care about bettering the breeds we work with because want to see the breeds flourish in the future. We carefully screen for health problems, personality, and behaviors and will not use a dog for breeding if they do not pass screening. While there is no such thing as a “perfect dog,” it is our goal to get to as perfect as possible so that the puppies remain healthy and happy throughout their lifetime! We have a health and temperament guarantee for our puppies. We screen prospective buyers to ensure every puppy is going to a loving and safe home and we ensure every puppy ends up in the arms of a wonderful family. Each of our homes are kept neat and clean; the dogs are well exercised, fed, healthy and happy.
How It All Started…
It all started with us, Denise and Dave. Over 5 years ago after all five of our children had grown up and left the house, we decided that we wanted to adopt a Black Standard Poodle. We had raised collies for many years, and as our last one was about to pass on, we knew we didn’t want to be without such a special member of the family and had always loved poodles for their intelligence, companionship and for being hypo-allergenic and non shedding.
We embarked upon the journey of first raising standard poodles using natural health approaches and learned very quickly how exponentially more impactful a raw food diet from grass fed sources along with a toxic free environment resulted in the healthiest puppies. A couple years later, one of our daughters introduced us to Standard Doodles for the first time. Immediately, we all fell in love with these all Doodle hybrid breeds.
Our favorite Doodles are Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Bernedoodles, and Aussiedoodles. Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Australian Shepherds are all breeds known for making great family dogs, loving children, and being easy to house train. When coupling these traits with the hypo allergenic, non-shedding, and intelligence of a Poodle, you have amazing hybrid breeds! It wasn’t long before our daughters and sons with their spouses and children fell in love with our dogs so much that they became Guardian Homes for companion and ethical breeding as well. Collectively, we all make up Doodles & Poodles Naturally.
